Oro Expeditions - Finding America's Hidden Treasure
Taught about living off the land by his father, grandfather and uncles, Oro Cas spent summers living in the forests of his native Western Maryland. At the age of 14 on expedition at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch Oro learned Gold Panning 101. Gold mining and prospecting have been a recurring event in Oro’s life since that trip.
Oro always wanted to experience gold mining circa the Gold Rush Era so with the support of friends and family, Oro Expeditions came to life.
In April 2013, a month after leaving a 30 year career as an over the road truck driver, Oro Cas loaded the “Nugget Buggy” with his camping gear and gold mining equipment and headed south. As a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of American (GPAA), he pitched his tent on the GPAA gold claim in Coker Creek, Tennessee and set out to live his dream.
Oro Expeditions Goldcations
While in Oregon I spent some time with a man that goes by the moniker, Miner Jimmy. We met for the first time in Grant's Pass at the Armadillo Mining Shop, it only took a few minutes of conversation to tell we had a lot in common. Especially the part about looking for gold.
One thing led to another and thanks to the generosity of Miner Jimmy and all the crew at Outpost Virgin Canyon we now have a spectacular location to share with you.
We offer exclusive access to a pristine gold bearing stream and the opportunity for our guests to live and work in an authentic modern day Gold Camp. The adventure of a lifetime.
